   Location -  
०   India lies entirely in the Northern hemisphere. 
०  Mainlands extends between 8° 4' N and 37 ° 6' N  latitude and 68° 7'  E  and 97 ° 25 E longitudes. 
०  The Tropic of Cancer (23° 30' N) divides India into two almost equal parts.  
०  The Standard Meridian of India (82° 30'E) is taken as standard time for whole country passes through Mirzapur, UP. 

     Size -
०  Seventh largest country by area 3.28 million square kilometre ( 3.287 263), (2,4% of total  area of world). 
०  Total boundary line 15200 km out of which 751 6.6 km coastline (5423km Peninsula and 2094km Island) . 
०   India's East -West extent appears to be smaller than the North-south extent. 
०   Total distance East to West  2933 km , North to South 3214 km. 
०   Tropic of Cancer pass through Gujarat ,Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh , Jharkhand,West Bengal , Tripura and Mizoram. 
०  28 states and 8 union territories. 

   India and the world - 
०  Centrally located between West and East Asia. 
०   Deccan Peninsula helped India to establish close contact with West Asia, Africa, Europe. 
०  India has contributed a lot to the world in the form of Ideas, philosophy, mathematics. 
०   In Exchange India architecture was influenced by Greek sculpture and architectural styles from West Asia.
